Arrival Into Cozumel, Mexico

The little bird in the upper left hand photo tried to get into our balcony cabin last night. I like to sleep with the door ajar to listen to the water flowing against the side of the ship. When I was about to open the door I noticed this little bird jumping against the window and trying to get in. I think it was because the light was on in our cabin and it was dark outside. The bird probably thought he was trying to fly toward daylight. After I turned off the lights in our cabin, this bird flew up to the rafters in our outside blacony. I then noticed there were two other birds of the same little size already up in the balcony rafters. These birds spent most of the night there but were gone by morning.

The other three photos above were taken of Cozumel from our balcony in the morning.

Our Great T-Mobile Service

As soon as we turned off airplane mode on our mobile phones after we arrived into the port in Cozumel, Mexico, we got this message from T-mobile: "Welcome to Mexico! Your plan includes coverage that gives you 5GB/mo. of high-speed data on Us, plus unlimited calls and texts to and from the US, Mexico, and Canada at no extra cost. Enjoy your stay!" We've gotten similar messages as this in every country we have ever visited in our travels around the world. Our T-Mobile plan provides free data, text and calling in over 215 countries around the world.

When I'm in a location that has no WiFi but does have mobile phone service, I just turn of my T-mobile phone "hotspot" and connect my computer to my phone to access the internet. If I'm going to need to use the hotspot a lot, I can pay just $50 for a much larger amount of high-speed mobile data for 30 days. When on the cruise ship at sea, we turn on "Airplane Mode" on our mobile phones, then turn on "WiFi" and connect to the WiFi on the cruise ship. We also turn on "WiFi Calling." On most cruise ships this allows us to not only connect to the internet, but to also make and receive not just email, but also phone calls and texts at no cost. On some cruise ships, T-mobile WiFi calling does not work. When that happens we use either the Vonage VOIP Calling App or Skype to make and receive phone calls over WiFi while on the ship.

We've also worked out a system to survive with just 2 internet plans while on the ship and still keep all our mobile phones, computers, tablets, etc., all connected to the internet simultaneously. We always either buy a cruise package that includes internet, such as Princess Plus on Princess Cruises, or the Key Package on Royal Caribbean Cruises, or will buy a single unlimited internet plan for each of us. Here is our trick: Barbara always keeps her mobile phone connected to the ship's WiFi internet. I always keep my main notebook computer connected to the ship's WiFi internet. Since I run Windows-11 on my notebook computer, I have the ability to turn on my notebook computer's WiFi hotspot. That allows me to connect up to ten more devices to my notebook computer WiFi hotspot. While in our cabin, that allows me to connect my mobile phone, my Kindle Oasis, and Barbara's notebook computer to the one ship's WiFi internet plan that I'm using on my notebook computer. When we are out and about the ship, Barbara and I both turn on our mobile phone's Bluetooth feature and I access the internet on my mobile phone by connecting to Barbara's mobile phone via Bluetooth as long as I'm with her anywhere on the ship. Thus we never need more than one ship WiFi internet plan each regardless of how many devices we want to have access to the internet while on a cruise.
