BigBus Sydney Hop-On Hop-Off

APRIL 1, 2020 UPDATE: I am going back over the photos that I took almost a month ago to fill in commentary. As you can see above the Princess Ruby Princess was in Sydney, Australia, loading passengers today for an 11 day Australia / New Zealand cruise. Little did we know that later four people would be tested positive for the Covid-19 Virus on the Ruby Princess. The Ruby Princess returned to Sydney Harbour and disembarked 2700 passengers on March 19, 2020, Thursday, the day after our Sea Princess ship disembarked its passengers on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. However, we may have disembarked at a different cruise ship terminal than the Ruby Princess as many of the docks in Sydney were already occupied by other cruise ships that had returned to Sydney before our ship.

Three passengers and one crew member tested positive for the Covid-19 China Virus. Princess made the following statement: "Please be advised that all four had reported flu-like symptoms during the cruise, and, along with their stateroom occupants, were in isolation on board the ship minimizing contact with other guests and crew." Authorities spent the next several hours trying to track down all of the passengers that disembarked from the Ruby Princess. The New South Wales Department of Health asked that people who were on the ship self-isolate for 14 days and should seek medical help if they experience flu-like symptoms. New South Wales Health Minister Brad Hazzard said it is possible that other passengers who disembarked in Sydney may be carrying the virus without symptoms. "Our big concern, the very big concern, is that those people came off the cruise with no knowledge of COVID-19 actually being on their ship," Hazzard said.

If Princess handled the disembarkation for the Ruby Princess like they did for our Sea Princess, then they booked everyone on flights out of Sydney on the same day the ship arrived into Sydney. Thus all those passengers on the Ruby Princess who may have been exposed to the Covid-19 China Virus probably boarded flights to all corners of the earth that day and may have exposed many others to the Covid-19 China Virus. I'm sorry to hear that but trying to manage these problems has been confusing and problematic to everyone. For more details, click here.

APRIL 2, 2020 UPDATE: More bad news for the Ruby Princess - "Over 200 members of Ruby Princess crew reportedly sick on coronavirus-linked ship". Click here for more information. When our Sea Princess cruise ship got back to Sydney the entire harbor was filled with cruise ships docked at every available slip with some even anchored out in the middle of the harbor. That is why when Princess cancelled all cruises we were allowed to continue to make two more port stops in Tasmania, Australia, and then it took us 3 days to get back to Sydney which should have only taken one day. That was the soonest there would be room at any cruise terminal for our ship to unload in Sydney. Thus there was no rush to head right back to Sydney.
